RecoveryCove ("we," "us," "our") provides a case-management platform for wildlife rehabilitation organizations. This policy explains what information we collect through our mobile app and website, why we collect it, and how it's handled.
Account information. When you create an account, we collect your email address, first and last name, and organization affiliation. Sign-in is handled by Firebase Authentication (a Google service) — your password itself is managed entirely by Firebase and is never stored on or accessible to RecoveryCove's own servers.
Organization verification. When an organization registers, we collect its EIN and legal name to confirm nonprofit status against IRS records, and cross-reference officer/director information via OpenCorporates to confirm the registering individual's affiliation. As a final verification step, some organizations complete identity verification through Stripe Identity, which involves submitting a government-issued ID and a live selfie directly to Stripe — RecoveryCove receives only the verification result, not the ID image itself.
Case and animal records. Data entered by your organization's team — animal records, health status, treatment history, incident reports, photos, and related notes — is stored to operate the platform on your organization's behalf.
Location data. Where relevant to a case (an animal's location, an incident site, a transport coordination point), the app may collect or let users enter GPS coordinates.
Photos and files. Photos uploaded to animal or report records are stored via Google Cloud Storage (part of our Firebase infrastructure).
Push notification data. If you enable notifications, we use Firebase Cloud Messaging to deliver them, which requires a device-specific messaging token.
Activity and audit data. To support accountability within an organization, the platform records who created or changed a given record and when.
We don't sell personal information. Data is shared only with the service providers that operate the platform, and with other members of your own organization according to their role-based permissions:
We may also disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of animals, our users, or the public.
We retain account and case data for as long as your organization maintains an active account, plus a reasonable period afterward to comply with recordkeeping obligations common to wildlife rehabilitation organizations. You can request deletion of your account or organization's data at any time by contacting us below.
RecoveryCove is intended for use by wildlife rehabilitation professionals and volunteers, and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 13.
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll update the "Last updated" date above and, where appropriate, notify organization administrators directly.
